Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort is located directly in the heart of Kuta beach. Just 5 km away from the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport, the journey from the airport to the Kuta area is usually less than half an hour, definitely convenient if you’re on a short weekend trip and don’t want to spend too much time travelling. Basically, everything you need for your trip is pretty much available in this Kuta-Legian area: the beach, the shops, the restaurants, the spas, the clubs, souvenirs, surfing, you name it!
Set on a total area of 5.2 hectares, the resort’s elevated position provides amazing beach and ocean views of the pristine Indian Ocean. The beach is just across the road from the hotel! It’s pretty convenient to just pop down to the beach for a dip in the mornings and run back to the room for a shower before heading off for next activities. The resort is also part of ‘beachwalk’ – a luxury shopping destination, presenting over 200 retail outlets in an open-air styled architecture inspired by Bali’s rice paddies. For a more ‘traditional’ Bali tourist experience, the famous Popies Lane is just a short walk down the main driveway where you’ll see the usual tourist souvenir shops and sports bars.
While most other luxury resorts in Bali tend to focus on giving guests the whole traditional Balinese experience, the Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort caters to folks who crave a contemporary paradise in a traditional setting. The entire building is inspired by the paddy fields of Bali and has quite a lot of greenery and in general has a very open concept feel – the hotel is elevated above the street level so you don’t get the bustle of the busy Kuta streets, and it feels cooler as well, never too sweltering even without air-conditioning in the lobbies.
The resort features a spacious open-air terrace and an outdoor rooftop pool with unrivalled panoramic views of the ocean, three dining venues where guests can enjoy Sheraton’s signature restaurants, a fully equipped fitness center, a spa, and an impressive 203 guest rooms and suites; each suite comes with its own spacious private balcony with uninterrupted views of the resort’s signature social courtyard or the Indian Ocean.
Once I got to the resort’s lobby, traditional Balinese dancers greeted me with flowers while Sheraton’s staff led me to the check in area, located a floor up. I had absolutely no wait to check-in and two different desks were open. I sat down and was brought a welcome drink and cold towel while I was being checked-in. Worth mentioning, you will have to pass through metal detectors anytime you enter the hotel.
After did my check-in, I was ushered to BENE to have lunch. BENE is Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort’s Italian restaurant located by the pool side, it overlooks the Kuta beach and offers pretty spectacular sunset views while you dine on homestyle Italian cooking. They have 100 different types of pasta in the menu that you can choose of. In general the food was simple and really hearty, I would eat it again in a heartbeat!
Just like what I’ve mentioned before, BENE is such a classy restaurant, every little detail of the restaurant looked awesome and the ambience was really fancy. Just look at those fabulous plates, they’re all custom made for BENE. Love love love!

After lunch, I was ushered to my room and holy smooch I was super fortunate to be put in the front facing ocean room! My room located right at the very center of the hotel and I got the privilege of the view worth getting jealous of!
Unlike some ‘family friendly’ Bali hotels, the accommodation at the Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort feels very luxurious with upmarket fittings and a high-end feel. The rooms were comfortable all around – generally spacious with the necessary amenities, no complaints from me here! I appreciated the turn down service and the leaving of little yummy goodies. The room itself consisted of a living room, bedroom, and open bathroom with great views from both the living room and bedroom. There was also a large terrace overlooking the gardens and ocean. The Suite room also comes equipped with a very cool espresso machine. I love the touch of white to the room, it adds up the vibrancies to a whole new level. Somehow white neutralize the soul of the room. And the hotel also provided the room with 6 bottles of mineral water so in no way you’ll be dehydrated. Even at a certain hour, the service staff will visit your room to ask if you have enough water drink supply. Applause for that!
The next thing I noticed was the extension of the already spacious room, into the equally spacious spa-inspired bathroom. A floor-to-ceiling glass panel separated the room from the bathroom, which featured freestanding bathtubs and rainforest showers. The shower had excellent water pressure and hot water was immediate with no delay. There is a separate tub as well.
For those wanting to stay fit, there’s a gym that’s open 24 hours next to the spa and swimming pool which you can access with your keycard.
The Lounge in the level 3 is where you can enjoy the awesome view of Kuta Beach and the ocean while having a drink. There are comfortable chairs to lounge in, and is quite an ideal spot to spend some time if you want to stay in the shade as it overlooks the pool.
Feast is their main restaurant located on level 1 – directly opposite the road from Kuta Beach, it offers outdoor seats on their patio for lounging if you don’t want to deal with sand on the beach! It’s also where the breakfast buffet happens every morning.
This hotel must have one of the best breakfasts in Bali! I spotted everything from sushi to breakfast pizza, dumplings, poached eggs, nasi goreng and chocolate donuts on the buffet. Don’t miss the pancakes and waffles which are made to order and come with ice cream (hey, you’re on holiday). There is also a dedicated children’s section that is worth a look for the cute theming even if you don’t have kids.

Personally speaking, I think this place is “a hidden gem in Kuta”, it has stunning views of the Indian Ocean, impeccable service and contemporary décor.
